Grappa di Barolo 9 Anni

Distillery: Marolo – Santa Teresa Distillery.
Pomaces: 100% of Nebbiolo grape pomace coming from the racking of Barolo.
Production area: Alba, Cuneo, Piedmont.
Distillation Technique: Distillation takes place by means of bainmarie discontinuous stills.
Maturation: 9 years in small oak barrels.
Temperature of service: 18-20 ° C.
Alcohol By Volume: 50% vol.

The Distillery

The Marolo distillery was founded in 1977 by the will of Paolo Marolo and his brother. Right from the start, Paolo Marolo, in contrast to the market made up of large distilleries, used the traditional steam boiler system, much more expensive and slower than continuous industrial stills, with the aim of seeking a quality product. Today the Santa Teresa Distillery of the Marolo brothers is led by Paolo and his son Lorenzo, capable of combining ancient artisan techniques with the most modern equipment, managing to place their grappas among the top of the quality Grappa production in Italy.

The grappa

Grappa di Barolo 9 anni is announced limpid, with an amber color. The aromas are frank, intense and rather complex on the nose. The bouquet includes fruity and floral hints reminiscent of dried plum and honey, elegantly wrapped in tertiary hints of vanilla and toasted bread. The entry into the mouth is intense, when tasted it’s soft, fresh, rather savory and with a sweet perception that attenuates the sensation of warmth given by the high alcohol content. It’s certainly a full-bodied grappa, with a medium-long persistence, balanced and whit an excellent taste finesse.

Food in pairing : Second courses based on grilled meat and game. Excellent as an accompaniment to chocolate-based desserts.

Conclusions

Grappa di Barolo 9 anni is an excellent product that respects the quality standards of the Marolo distillery. Perfect both as a meditation distillate and in combination with structured meats, desserts and medium – bodied cigars.
